PALANTIR’S NHS CONTRACT

•In November 2023, Palantir was awarded a £330 million contract to create a new data management system called the Federated Data Platform (FDP)

•The full scope of the FDP remains vague, but in short, it aims to suck up data from specific ‘apps’ used at the local level, all to be accessible to central government on a single software platform, for the purposes of ‘data analysis’

•NHS England have refused to release the contract, and we don’t know how much access they will have to the data, previous rollouts of new data platforms have failed due to lack of trust and grassroots resistance

•Senior Palantir staff infamously described the company’s NHS strategy as “buying our way in and hoovering up” small businesses working with the NHS to “take a lot of ground and take down a lot of political resistance”.
